簡介與辨識
南洋肥角鍬形蟲（Aegus chelifer）在臺灣的原生性有不同記載：TBN 將其列為原生種，2017 年台灣昆蟲學會年會摘要與 2025 年越南 Aegus 名錄則分別記為外來與引入。2017 年摘要記述本種於 1993 年首度在高雄原木工廠發現；隨東南亞原木進口的說法，在該摘要中仍屬推測。 泰國研究材料中，大型雄蟲的大顎比頭部長，側視略向下彎，中央內齒位於顎中段；前胸背板寬約為長的兩倍，中央盤面無刻點。雌蟲前胸背板側緣不具側角。
分布與棲地
臺灣。 小琉球的研究紀錄中，作者指出本種棲於腐朽木。
